A Day at the Fair!

Kentucky state fair was in big swing this summer again, and my hubby and I had to make our yearly trip to indulge in games, shows, exhibits, draft beer and best of all, the food.
We 1st caught a show of dancing and singing pigs, silly I know, but cute at the same time. My favorite was Chestor, he was the singing pig in the sunglasses.

After the show, we walked around the exhibits, and I spent the most time in the quilt exhibit. I found some I really liked, and some that looked impossible to make. Here are some pictures of quilts I saw, one was made by the same fabric and blocks as one my mother made. That picture is for her.

These were beautiful aren't they? Maybe some day I will have something to enter into the fair.

Next we went onto the games, my hubby and I were going to try to win a stuffed animal for our big baby, Leo. He loves to chew up anything with soft fabric and stuffing. Hubby tried his hand at the beebe gun, and I threw some skeeball. And look what I won..... (Leo is currently tearing this guy apart) I feel kinda bad for the guy, he was really cute, but hubby wouldn't let me keep him.Now that I am done with the activities we did, here is ALL the food we ate. Yes it was allot. We started with my all time favorite when we got there, gyros. They were soooooooo good, nothing beats a fair gyro. Later we went to separate booths, but both enjoyed different foods on a stick. Once you add "on a stick" to your fair food, you know its going to be 10x better. I went with the classic, corn dog on a stick, but hubby went for pork butt on a stick. Don't tell Chester, but it was really good. Then of course right before we left we had to get everyones favorite from the fair, and I will leave you with a picture of this wonderful pastry.

Its finished!

So my hubby can finally relax and enjoy his backyard. He has been working on this fence for a few weeks now with a little help from some friends and even littler from me. I have to say I'm very impressed with his handy skills, and think it looks great. Leo enjoys not being on a leash, and running free by himself. I'm not sure if he would even notice right now with that huge bone in front of him though.

I have decided to give a peek at a secret project I've been working on. I just wont say for who or for what. I have been pretty proud of myself lately with this quilt I've been working on. It has a lot of little pieces that need to line up with each other, and I've done a lot better then I expected. I'm not as good as my mother yet, and but I've decided I'm going to give her a run for her money and keep practicing.
My vacation is coming up soon, and I'm anxious to be off work, and visit my nephew again. I have received some new photos of him lately, and cannot help but tear up by how handsome he is. I will have tons of new pictures to post of him in about 10 days, but who's counting?

The most handsome boy ever, my nephew!

Here is the proud parents and their big bundle of joy.

I say big because he arrived at a whole 8lbs and 9 ounces.
Unfortunately I had to leave that night after he was born on 08-08-08. I did get to hold him for a little bit before I had to leave though.

My hubby and I are going to visit in about 2 weeks so I'll have a lot more photos then. I cannot wait to see him and his parents again. These are the times that its hard having family living far away. Even with the distance, I have a feeling sweet cheeks is going to be very spoiled by his auntie.

Chocolate bacon?

You might be thinking, "has she gone crazy?" or "does she have to have chocolate with everything?" The answer is probably a little bit of both. Not long ago, my hubby and I watched dinner impossible on food network channel, and watched the guy make an incredibley tasty looking dessert with bacon. We couldn't help but make our own version and try it ourselves.

It turns out this salty sweet treat is wonderful! If and when I ever get my own bakery up and running, I have decided that this will be an addition to the menu. In the mean time, If you ever have a craving for something extremely bad for you, I suggest to try this.

It's finally over!

For those of you who know me well, you know that I have been stressing and working my butt off for work lately. I had a huge evaluation at work today, and all of my hard work has finally paid off. Its been a tough 2 weeks trying to get everything togeather, and to tell you the truth, at the start of it all I didn't think I could pull it off. Boy was I wrong. The rest of the gang and I at work pulled threw and showed all of the big wigs we can be given a task and not only accomplish it, but exceed their expectations. I have never felt so good leaving work then I did today. To bad today was supposed to be my day off.

Now that all that stress is over, my nephew can be born at any time. I was so afraid that my sis in law would go into labor last night or this morning, and I wouldn't be able to make it in time for his arrival. All is good now, and I cannot wait for his sweet cheeks to be born.

A long time ago!

So it's been a long time since I've started this blog, and who knows if it will continue. I just figured I'd give it a try again. The last post was when my hubby and I got our 1st puppy. Well he is still a puppy being only 10 months old, but does not look like it anymore. He has become very spoiled, so spoiled that his daddy decided we needed to build a fence just for him.

I have to admit, the fence has come along nicely, and I do like not having to worry about Leo out back anymore. When the whole thing gets finished, maybe I will post some pictures of it all. Maybe another reason to continue the blog? Hubby has been talking about building Leo a dog house as well. It will have to be a large one for him at 75lbs and growing.
Along side of being entertained by the dog, I've been working on some of my hobbies. I have some secret projects in store, but no pictures until Christmas. I know so long, but who knows who will sneak a peak. I do plan on doing a few things for myself here soon. I have some Christmas and fall projects I'm dying to get my hands on. My favorite part of the year is just around the corner.
